Q-Tech is led by industry boat bouilders, Mackay Boats and Ovington Boats. With a long history of collaboration on the 49er, 49erFX, 29er, and VX One classes, we combine our expertise to advance one-design, high-performance sailing for sailors worldwide. Q-Tech’s approach to producing high-quality, one-design equipment starts with a quality assurance programme. Here’s how the Q-Tech QA programme sets the standard:

1. Precision Standards: Calibrated jigs, certified moulds, and verification stickers ensure every boat meets exact specs.

2. Trusted Suppliers: Only proven partners who deliver reliable, high-tolerance parts.

3. Smart Data: Builders log every detail—analyzed by Q-Tech and measurers to maintain top performance.

4. Build Audits: Regular inspections by class measurers and World Sailing keep quality on track.

5. Feedback – We work with  Class Associations and sailors to refine the experience

6. Review: The Alliance meets regularly to adapt and improve.

 

Licence Manufacturers Mark

Every boat built by a Q-Tech Alliance builder is fitted with the Q-Tech Alliance Licence Manufacturers Mark (LMM) on the stern, displayed alongside the individual builder’s mark.
This certification confirms that the boat has been constructed in full accordance with its specified design and standards. Each LMM features a unique identification number, linked to the manufacturer’s records for traceability and verification.
